Below is a list of common questions. If you don't find the answer to what you are looking for, you can also contact us via e-mail.
What is an art card?

Just like sports fans collect baseball cards of their favorite players, art fans collect art cards of their favorite artists or artwork.

An art card is a small pocket-sized piece of art. They are also commonly know as ACEO (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) as well as ATC (Artist Trading Cards). They can be original artwork or prints/reproductions of original artwork. These cards are bought, sold and traded all over the world. The official standard size of an art card is the same size as a standard trading card, which is 2.5" x 3.5" (64 x 89 mm). All the cards posted on this site must meet this criteria.

What is the difference between an ATC and ACEO?

ATC (Artist Trading Cards) and ACEO (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) are similar, but there are some differences. ATCs are only to be traded with other artists, not bought/sold. They are traded via mail or in person at local trading groups. You can find some of these groups on our trading page.

ACEOs are the same size card, but can be bought/sold and traded. The ACEO concept, opens the art card world to everyone, not just artists. ACEOs can be original artwork, or they can be prints/reproductions of original artwork.

No matter if you collect ACEOs or strictly trade ATC, you can find information here to expand your collection.

What is the purpose of ArtCardsWanted.com?

We have many goals for creating this site. The first one is to raise awareness of art cards throughout the world. We also wish to provide a one-stop place for all your art card needs. We wish to give ATC artists a place to find local trading groups/events. We also wanted to create a site that was dedicated to buying/selling ACEOs. Our site is just getting started and we plan to add many great features for art card enthusiasts every month.

What types of art cards are there?

There are three main categories of art cards. You can sell all three types on our site.

  1. Open Edition - Prints/reproductions of artwork that is printed in the standard card size. Open editions can be printed and reprinted depending on the demand for the card. There is no limit to how many will be printed. This can also be a mini-print of a larger original artwork.
  2. Limited Edition - This type is also a print/reproduction, but there is a limit to how many cards will be ever printed/sold. These cards are more valuable then open edition cards, because there is only a limited amount of each card that is available in the world. Many times, limited edition cards will be numbered on the back of the card.
  3. Original Artwork - This card is a unique piece of artwork done by the artist. It can be painted or drawn, but it will be 100% original and only one card exists in the world. This type of card is the most valuable.
Is there a fee to sell art cards on this site?

There is currently no fee to list your art cards for sale on ArtCardsWanted.com. You can list as many cards as you like without any limits.

If the buyer pays you directly through your PayPal account, there is also no fee when you sell the card. If the card is purchased using our merchant account, there is a small $1.00 fee per card to cover our expenses.

How do I know when I have a sale?

When one of your items is sold on our site, you will be sent an e-mail from us about the sale that includes the buyers information.

Who does the shipping/fulfillment when an order is purchased?

You are responsible for shipping out the cards to the buyer, since you will have the card. This is not a print-on-demand site, so you must have the card in your possession and be ready to mail it out when it's sold.

Can I determine the selling price and shipping price?

Yes and yes. You control the price for the card(s) you are selling on our site and you can update this price at anytime.

You also control the shipping costs. We have a flat shipping rate within the US and then another flat shipping rate for International orders. If you do not want to ship Internationally, you can put a $0 for the International shipping rate. If you live outside the US, then the US & International shipping rates should be the same, because you will always be shipping Internationally.

Can I put my cards up for auction?

We do plan to add an auction area to our website in the future, but we need to build up traffic to the site first. For now, all cards on the site are for purchase at the price listed.

When do I get paid if I sell a card on this site?

If you collect the payments directly from your PayPal account, then you are instantly paid at the time of order directly by the buyer. If the buyer uses our merchant account (or you don't have a PayPal account) then we will pay our members by the 15th of the month for sales from the previous month. You must have at least $10 in sales for a check to be mailed to you.

How long are the cards listed on the site?

When you post a card to our site, it will be put on a 10 day listing. However, after the 10 days, the listing will auto-renew and remain on the site. This auto-renew process will continue to happen as long as you login to our site at least once every two months. If you forget to check back on the site within the two months, your cards will expire and be hidden from the public. Once you log back in, all your cards will instantly be put back up for sale. This is done to make sure that the information on our site is current and we are not selling cards that have been sold elsewhere without us knowing.

Can you make art card prints of my digital artwork files?

Yes, this is a service that we provide to our members. We have different packages and options available to you. To get more information, please login to your members area and click on the 'Order ACEO Prints' link or read the details here.

Does ArtCardsWanted.com offer a 'print-on-demand' service?

No, we do not print cards as they are ordered on our site. All cards that are posted on our site for sale are original artwork or pre-printed before they are posted by the artist. If you are new to art cards, you can use our print service to have us make cards of your original artwork before you post them online.

What is the reccomended DPI/pixels of uploaded images?

When you upload images to our site, they are resized to fit inside a 350x350 pixel area. You can upload any size file and we will resize it to the correct size for our site.

If you are ordering prints, then we recommend at least 300 DPI for your artwork. This would be 750 x 1050 pixels for a 300 DPI print. 1000 x 1400 pixels for 400 DPI. 1250 x 1750 pixels for a card at 500 DPI. We have created a tutorial to help people prepare images for printing.

How can I get started selling?

All you need to do is join our site, then fill out a small form in our members area for each card you want to sell. You have full control over the title, description and price of each card. You can add new cards to your list or remove existing cards at anytime. Membership is free, so click here to join our site.

What if I have a question that was not answered here?
